Well, the largest server claims 36,000 online users. Let's say only half of those are NSA agents...

So, are you helping people to keep up with the latest servers or do you want to warn them abot the risk?^^
Probably just both, sure. I imagine eDonkey should also be only used with a trusted VPN then?
I won't ever use it probably or are there still very old files to be found? Maybe a gold mine for sbestran who is looking for niche content?
Or what would be the benefit of eDonkey be nowadays?

Oh, nice, another gold mine with NSA Agents as guards.
Gold mines are historically very safeguarded, it seems...

But, for real, are there good releases for movies still running on ed2k?

Or its like when you have to solve the captchas, re-enable javascript, give your phone number and real ip address, than tell your vpn ip address so that the guards make them associated for all eternity and only then you can download goldmine.360p.divx?

Last time I used eDonkey, it was more of an mp3 thing.

The article is clickbaity since eMule's "encryption" is neither designed nor expected to be secure and global surveillance programs don't care about persecuting or disrupting piracy, but nonetheless was still interesting enough to post.

eMule's largest attractive was always old and rare stuff, but the hit its active user count has taken over the years diluted that: you can't get those files if no one's sharing them anymore. The fact port forwarding and long uptimes are mandatory by design make casual usage unrealistic, which doesn't help the situation. Even so, it's still worth looking into, and you never know how the tide may turn in the future.

Feel free to drop names if you're looking for something specific, and I'll do a search. Besides, I think we can at least agree a 360p of Goldmine is better than a 0p...

Let's use some from that list I gave you from WtFnZb' thread:

As an example, any DVD-R (ISO or MPEG2, not DVDRips) or higher from your vicinity for these?

    Spoiler DVD-R or superior:
El bano del Papa (2007) (Uruguay)
Il pleut sur Santiago (1975) (France)
    La Demora (2012) (Uruguay)

I can only guess the answer is no... I believe I had already left kazaa when they were launched, and sharing ISOs was not a thing.

Tell the guards I am only interested in media for availability research and give them this piece of cake I baked for them: it must be boring to vigil (un)dead file sharing services, these guards deserve appreciation.

Kazaa is long obsolete since its hashing algorithm is deeply flawed and it requires a public IPv4 address to work.

Also, it seems both of us just won a trip to Cuba with stay included! How amazing is that?

Nice, sbestran will be very happy. I guess he has to start getting into eMule^^ I will look into it myself now too.
I never bothered to get into it yet, but maybe it's time. Any recommendations on how to get started or where to find some resources on how to get started and staying safe?

I will try to set up something on one of my seedboxes with this tutorial:

The official documentation is extensive and there are FAQ threads in this very forum too, but here's some advice.
    • If you can't be connectable, or your WAN IPv4 address ends in .0 or changes frequently, fix it or forget it.
    • If your VPN doesn't offer static and reliable port forwarding, see above.
    • Get a good server list (this thread) and a good ipfilter.dat (https://emule-security.org/). Make sure the option to filter server IPs is enabled.
    • While the above step will almost eliminate fakes, use your head and check metadata and other filenames on search results. Videos can be previewed once their first and last chunk are available.
    • Learn how chunks, queuing and the credit system work and be ready to run 24/7, it's the only way you'll get anywhere.
    • Don't bother with mods of any kind until you have a good grasp of how the protocol works, you'll be overwhelmed by features you don't understand. (Look, https://wiki.emule-web.de/Main_Page still exists...)
    • Don't bother with alternative or do-it-all clients like Shareaza, mlDonkey or lphant either, they aren't as good and get score penalties due to their lack of a credit system. Use the official client (community edition is fine), or for non-Windows systems, either aMule or official client under Wine.
    • Last but not least, any advice about "credit shaping" you find online is quackery, and setting a shared file's priority to release mode won't trick anyone or make you download faster.

Nice! Clan-sudamerica still shares stuff there! I must have it!
Thank you for looking into it, anon, and for keeping this nice list of servers and your advice!
It is very nice to have another source for these!

I believe that my biggest problem is going to be that I have too many different ips every day.
Maybe a seedbox can do it, or at least have have a fix ip for longer time than me (some hours).
Or a fixed ip vps/vpn maybe.

Not sure how that works, but you then proceeded to list all possible solutions in descending order of desirability. A VPN will drop when your IP changes, and whoever was uploading to you at the time will move on the next person in their queue.

I don't think prepackaged eMule seedboxes are a thing anymore, but you could host it on a cheap VPS as long as it has enough disk space, crypto payments and no extradition treaty (Many of these have a "no P2P" clause on their TOS, but won't care unless you go over quota or they receive too many takedowns.)
